PARAMUS, N.J. – Actress and Ridgewood resident Ali Stroker will highlight a collection of speakers on diverse topics at Bergen Community College’s upcoming TEDx event.

“Narrative Matters: Using story to make change” will take place at the College Tuesday, March 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Anna Maria Ciccone Theatre at Bergen’s main campus. TEDx, a program of local, self-organized events mimics the popular TED Talks series that features short discussions – 18 minutes or less – on myriad subjects.

Stroker, who will headline the event’s more than a dozen speakers, recently became the first actress in a wheelchair to appear on Broadway and has appeared on television’s Glee and the Glee Project. She will discuss her challenges and triumphs at approximately 11:25 a.m.

In addition to Stroker, the event will feature speakers on a wide-range of topics from transgender rights and start-up businesses to engineering and sustainable food.

Based in Paramus, Bergen Community College (www.bergen.edu), a public two-year coeducational college, enrolls 16,000 students at locations in Paramus, the Philip Ciarco Jr. Learning Center in Hackensack and Bergen Community College at the Meadowlands in Lyndhurst. The College offers associate degree, certificate and continuing education programs in a variety of fields. More students graduate from Bergen than any other community college in the state.
