PARAMUS, N.J. – According to John Densmore, The Doors’ legacy is worth preserving under lock and key.
Densmore – the drummer who supplied the snare for the rock ‘n’ roll icons – will visit Bergen Community College’s Anna Maria Ciccone Theatre (400 Paramus Road, Paramus) Tuesday, March 11 at 7:30 p.m. to discuss his latest book “The Doors: Unhinged,” his personal account of the fight to prevent the group from over-commercialization and “selling out.”
Bergen music professor Andy Krikun will lead the conversation with the famed rocker at the free event presented as part of the College’s semiannual “distinguished artist series.” The evening before his prime-time conversation with Krikun, Densmore will conduct a lecture for students on The Doors’ creative process.
In more than 50 years, The Doors have sold 35.5 million albums in the U.S. – and millions more around the globe – according to the Recording Industry Association of America. Front-man Jim Morrison led the group that featured keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger and the drummer, Densmore. Morrison passed away in 1971; Manzarek in 2013.
