PARAMUS, N.J. – Adults interested in designing dresses or drapes have an opportunity to explore a new niche this fall.

The Bergen Community College Division of Continuing Education, Corporate and Public Sector Training will offer two free open houses in September on its popular fashion and interior design programs. Each open house will feature a panel of instructors/designers – including Adua Celentano, haute couture fashion designer, and Gerie Mulhern, a fashion industry professional with more than 30 years of experience – who will discuss career options and the College’s course offerings. Both open houses will take place in room TEC-119 at the College’s main campus, 400 Paramus Road, Paramus, N.J.

The fashion design open house will take place Saturday, Sept. 20 at 10 a.m. and will feature a showcase of clothing designed during previous semesters. New this year, high school students seeking to embark on a career in fashion can enroll in a number of “after school” courses including “The World of Fashion,” “The Role of a Fashion Designer” and “The History of Fashion.”

The interior design open house will take place Monday, Sept. 22 at 6:30 p.m. Once enrolled, program participants can complete all eight core classes in just two semesters.

Continuing education also offers a variety of courses and certifications in areas such as health professions, construction, computers and world languages.
