Christopher MartinezBergen Community College alumnus, Christopher Martinez,‘23, graduated with a degree in English literature with the career goals of author, writer, poet, and philosopher. Martinez is president of the Bards and Scribes Creative Writing Club, president of the philosophy club, editor for Bergen’s Labyrinth literary magazine, and a member of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK). “My initial goal at Bergen Community College was to jumpstart my higher education journey,” said Martinez. “Bergen has thoroughly exceeded my expectations and makes me proud of my path.”

“Bergen is among the best community colleges in the area,” said Martinez. He cited the exemplary professors, the amazing students, and the overall community that contributed to his success at Bergen.

“The exemplary professors at Bergen have allowed me to be successful at Bergen,” said Martinez. “I have formed close relationships with my professors—ones who care about my overall success and pursuits in life.”

Furthermore, Martinez said, “The amazing crowd of students—overall community at Bergen—as well, has played a huge role in my success here.” He graduated in May 2023.

Based in Paramus, Bergen Community College (www.bergen.edu), a public two-year coeducational college, enrolls more than 13,000 students at locations in Paramus, the Philip Ciarco Jr. Learning Center in Hackensack and Bergen Community College at the Meadowlands in Lyndhurst. The College offers associate degree, certificate and continuing education programs in a variety of fields. More students graduate from Bergen than any other community college in the state.
