Bergen Community College student Jang Mok stepped up into leadership positions across several student organizations.
Mok, of Hackensack, currently serves as the Student Government Association (SGA) President, in which he connects with Bergen’s student body and the College’s leadership to create change on campus.
He first ventured into student leadership as a committee member of SGA’s Student Activities Board during spring 2025. During this time, he also served as the Latin American Student Association vice president, and the Korean Student Association secretary.
“I chose Bergen because of how welcoming it has been toward my family and me,” Mok said. He first visited Bergen’s Spring 2024 Open House with his family, and saw so much support from the staff that he never visited any other college anywhere else.
As he moves along his Bergen journey, Mok said he sees continual support from faculty and staff to help him grow as a student. With the continued encouragement, he said he feels confident to become a leader on campus.
“The large number of people, including faculty, staff, and students, who will help and motivate you to excel in everything that they think you could do well is unbelievable,” he said. “I have been through personal problems, but being with the right people at Bergen has made me succeed, learn, and realize what I want for my future career goals.”
Mok expects to graduate in 2027 with his associate’s degree in professional studies. Mok’s goal is to become a diplomat and educator.
