Bergen Community College alumna Karla Santamaria, ‘23, studied applied general sciences to pursue a career as a software developer. Santamaria was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) honor society serving as director of communications. She was a STEM 3SP intern while maintaining memberships in the STEM club, the Computer Science club, and the Latin American Student Association (LASA). “The plethora of resources Bergen has to offer, such as tutoring, volunteering, leadership, and employment opportunities makes one bound to grow as a person and get the experiences they will need in the future.”
When reflecting back on choosing Bergen, Santamaria recalled, “After I visited the college, I fell in love with the campus and how everybody was so welcoming. Given the fact that I was undecided at first, I felt that such an open and lively place like Bergen would be the perfect place for me to learn and make my discovery.” She graduated with the class of 2023.
