Madeline MenesesBergen Community College student Madeline Meneses is studying business with the goal to embrace leadership opportunities.

Meneses, of Bergenfield, enrolled through Bergen’s NJ STARS program to save money as she explored her academic passions and professional goals.

I believe it is a great school for people who are not sure what career they want, and it leaves room for exploration while saving money,” said Meneses.

Meneses feels that Bergen is a comfortable environment and credits the College’s faculty and staff, including NJ STARS Coordinator Julia Gibson. “Julia Gibson has assisted me in feeling comfortable and safe at Bergen by checking up on me and showing interest in how my studies are going,” said Meneses.

Along with receiving staff support, Meneses believes that maintaining a strong mentality and growth mindset has made her successful at Bergen. “Constantly striving to do better and genuinely wanting to learn is something that keeps my fire alive,” she said.

Meneses expects to graduate in 2026.
