Bergen Community College alumna Margo Cusco,‘23, studied social work to pursue a career as a high school guidance counselor. Looking for a fresh start after failing out of the navy, Cusco thought she wanted to earn a surgical technician certification to enter the workforce right away. However, Cusco quickly got involved with clubs and organizations on campus, became acquainted with staff and resources, and began building friendships at Bergen. She found that her true calling was social work and switched majors.
“I owe all my success to the dedicated staff members and professors that I had the great pleasure and honor to cross paths with on my journey to higher education,” said Cusco.
Fondly referring to Bergen as her family, she said, “Gracias a mi familia!”
Cusco served as president and secretary of the Latin American Student Association (L.A.S.A.), Student Government Association senator for the Student Activities Board (SAB), and VIP student ambassador. She graduated in May 2023.
