What is the Dual Enrollment program at Bergen Community College?

Bergen Community College’s Dual Enrollment Program (DE) provides an opportunity for high school students to earn college credit at their high school during their regular school day. These courses are taught by pre-approved high school teachers, who are required to meet the College’s adjunct faculty requirements (Master’s Degree in their subject area). Dual enrollment courses are aligned to meet the College’s academic standards and expected learning outcomes. All dual enrollment courses appear on the student’s high school and official college transcript.

Benefits: Why participate in Dual Enrollment?

  • Students have the ability to earn college credits while simultaneously fulfilling high school requirements
  • Students experience an enhanced and challenging level of learning
  • College credits earned can be used toward BCC associate degrees and are generally transferable to most NJ colleges/universities (www.njtransfer.org), and many post-secondary institutions out-of-state
  • College courses are offered at a significantly reduced rate of tuition resulting in a substantial financial savings towards college education
  • Students gain an earlier insight into potential careers
  • Access to College resources, as well as academic coaching and advising support

Program Participation: How do I apply or participate?

To be eligible for participation, students must be actively participating in a BCC Dual Enrollment course at the high school at the time of application and registration. If you are unsure if you are in a dual enrollment course, please speak with the high school guidance department. College credit cannot be obtained retroactively for a dual enrollment course taken in the past.

We encourage all students and their families to review our dual enrollment instructions first. Students who are taking a dual enrollment course for the first time must submit a Dual Enrollment application (linked below) prior to registration. Students who have previously taken a dual enrollment course with BCC can proceed with registration.
