The General Education Committee has been substantially redesigning the way that General Education learning outcomes–the Essential Learning Outcomes–are being assessed. Going forward, a subset of the Essential Learning Outcomes will be assessed annually in Canvas by the faculty teaching General Education courses. This approach to assessment will yield rich datasets that will allow the College to set benchmarks for College-wide performance and also demonstrate the value added by a Bergen Community College degree by comparing learning outcomes based on the number of credits earned.
