The Teaching Assistant/Paraprofessional Training is a dynamic, career-focused professional development opportunity designed to prepare and empower today’s educational support professionals. Whether you are already working in a K–12 school or looking to enter the field, this program provides the practical skills, instructional strategies, and professional confidence needed to
succeed in classrooms. Participants gain hands-on experience paired with a strong foundation in evidence-based educational practices.
A limited-time NJCCC grant is available to provide financial support for eligible students.

Program Structure: The Program features a three-tiered structure, totaling 36 hours of instruction.
● Complete all three levels for a comprehensive training experience
● Or select individual levels based on your professional needs and career goals
Eligibility Requirements
● Hold a high school diploma or equivalent
● Be able to pass required background and health checks in accordance with New Jersey school employment standards
Take the Next Step in Your Education Career
● SD-015 Level 1: Essential Foundations (15 hours): This Level 1 course is recommended for Individuals seeking to enter the paraprofessional field and current paraprofessionals seeking additional skills.
● SD-016 Level 2: Advanced Professional Learning (12 hours): This Level 2 course is recommended for Individuals who have completed Level 1 and current paraprofessionals seeking additional skills or requiring certification.
● SD-051 Level 3: Content-Specific Expertise (9 hours): This Level 3 course is recommended for Individuals who have completed Level 1 and Level 2 and current paraprofessionals requiring certification or skill enhancement.
