As world leaders convene in France for the United Nations’ COP21 – the annual session of the Conference of the Parties climate change convention – an art exhibition on the topic will open at Bergen Community College this month.

“Tipping Points: Artists Address the Climate Crises” features the work of 10 artists from the U.S. and Australia in Gallery Bergen at the College’s main campus, 400 Paramus Road. The artists are Resa Blatman, Diane Burko, Nancy Cohen, Matthew Friday, Mary Mattingly, Itty Neuhaus, Laura Petrovich-Cheney, Joan Perlman, Caroline Rothwell, Carleen Shaheen and Rebecca Smith.

An opening reception took place Tuesday, Dec. 8 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the gallery. The exhibition will remain open until Friday, Feb. 19, 2016. Gallery hours are posted below left-side menu.

Mediums in the exhibition include photography, video, sculpture and drawing. Some artists have partnered with scientists and environmental organizations to create their work, while others employ abstract interpretations of the topic.

Veteran gallerist Amy Lipton curated the exhibition.
