PARAMUS, N.J. – Bergen Community College student Lucretia Zorat (right), of Moonachie, rose as the cream of the crop March 9, winning a culinary competition at the institution as part of its annual Women’s History Month celebration. Three students showed off their culinary chops for a panel of expert judges including (from left) Christine Nunn, the executive chef and co-owner of the acclaimed Picnic on the Square in Ridgewood; Rama Ginde, of caterer WannaBee Chef; and Dana Cohen, a former “Hell’s Kitchen” contestant. Zorat, a hotel/restaurant management student at the College, prepared four courses in varying cuisines during the competition for the grand prize – a day in Picnic’s kitchen alongside Nunn. Bergen’s hotel/restaurant/hospitality and culinary arts programs offer students a blend of in-class lecture and hands-on experience in a professional-grade kitchen at the College’s main campus in Paramus.
