PARAMUS, N.J. – Prospective students and their families will have an opportunity to visit Bergen Community College, the state’s No. 1 college for associate degree graduates, during an open house this month.

The free open house, which will take place Thursday, March 31 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the student center at the College’s main campus (400 Paramus Road, Paramus), will allow students to meet with Bergen representatives from financial aid, student life, athletics and the Judith K. Winn School of Honors. Faculty from programs such as computer science, criminal justice and business will also meet with prospective students.

For two consecutive years, Bergen has ranked as the No. 1 college in New Jersey for associate degree graduates; its national rank has risen to No. 26. College officials attribute the rise in graduates to enhanced initiatives to support student success such as the Cerullo Learning Assistance Center, which has twice received recognition in the past three years as one of the best tutoring resources in the nation.

Evaluators from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, the institution’s accrediting body, recently commended Bergen’s commitment to high institutional standards when the group found the College in compliance with all of the commission’s 14 “characteristics of excellence.” The group lauded 48 specific areas of the College, referring to them as best practices for any institution.

Later this spring, the College will open the Health Professions Integrated Teaching Center, a 65,000 square-foot learning facility to support the institution’s region-leading health professions programs and workforce development in Bergen County. Healthcare represents the county’s No. 1 employment sector.
