PARAMUS, N.J. – Bergen Community College’s 24th annual “Young Playwrights Festival” will feature six one-act plays by local students Thursday, June 9 at 7:30 p.m.

Performed by the College’s theater arts students in the Anna Maria Ciccone Theatre at the institution’s main campus, 400 Paramus Road, Paramus, the ­­free and open-to-the-public event showcases the countywide playwriting competition open to elementary school, middle school, high school and college students.

This year’s winning plays are:

  • “The Decision,” Gianna Grosso, of Park Ridge, Bergen County Academies
  • “A Rastafarian’s Rights,” Claire Perez, of Park Ridge, Park Ridge High School
  • “Gomorrah,” Daniel Tallman, of Park Ridge, Park Ridge High School
  • “Death Rows,” Jasmine Sharma, of Franklin Lakes, Bergen County Academies
  • “What Doesn’t Kill You,” Christian Palacio, of Elmwood Park, Bergen Community College
  • “Wish You Were Here,” John Kroner, of Hillsdale, Bergen Community College
  • Based in Paramus, Bergen Community College (www.bergen.edu), a public two-year coeducational collBergen Welcomes Young Playwrights

    ege, enrolls 15,000 students at locations in Paramus, the Philip Ciarco Jr. Learning Center in Hackensack and Bergen Community College at the Meadowlands in Lyndhurst. The College offers associate degree, certificate and continuing education programs in a variety of fields. More students graduate from Bergen than any other community college in the state.
