Bergen Community College student Tiffani Todman is studying physical sciences to enter a career in the medical field.

“I chose Bergen because I wanted to transition to a four-year institution, and I wanted a school that offered a seamless bridge for my career goals,” said Todman, of Englewood.

Todman said that she was impressed by Bergen’s Division of Health Professions’ faculty and staff. She also learned about the various connections Bergen has with local health and wellness organizations in the community. Many of the organizations visit campus for large events, such as the annual Community Health Week held each April.

After getting acclimated to campus life, Todman began to come out of her shell to get involved with her peers. “Coming into Bergen, I was kind of shy and reserved,” she said. “But once I got here and I got my foot down, my wings began to spread and I started making connections and I put myself out there, which landed me this role.”

For the 2026-2027 academic year, Todman will serve as executive secretary for the Student Government Association. She will now have the opportunity to create change on campus while connecting with peers across the College.

“If I hadn’t advocated for myself – if I stayed reserved and shy – then I wouldn’t have the opportunities that I had,” said Todman.

Todman expects to graduate in 2028.

Based in Paramus, Bergen Community College (www.bergen.edu), a public two-year coeducational college, enrolls more than 24,000 students at locations in Paramus, the Philip Ciarco Jr. Learning Center in Hackensack and Bergen Community College at the Meadowlands in Lyndhurst. The College offers associate degree, certificate and continuing education programs in a variety of fields. More students graduate from Bergen than any other community college in the state.
