PARAMUS, N.J. – The Bergenstages theatre troupe will open its next show, the musical “Into the Woods,” Friday, Nov. 30 at 7:30 p.m. in Bergen Community College’s Anna Maria Ciccone Theatre (400 Paramus Road).

Based on the book by James Lapine and with music and lyrics written by Stephen Sondheim, the performance explores three different fairytales and reveals how the characters’ actions haunt them in disastrous ways. The story chronicles the lives of the baker and his wife who want to have a child, Cinderella who is longing to go to the King’s festival and Jack who wishes his cow would give him milk. By the end of Act I, the characters receive their wishes and appear happy. However, their lives are about to take an unexpected turn when Jack’s beanstalk allows a giant to enter the town. The community must make sacrifices to save each other and their kingdom.

The show runs Friday, Nov. 30 and Saturday, Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. and Thursday, Dec. 6, Friday, Dec. 7 and Saturday, Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, Dec. 1 and Dec. 8, matinee performances will take place at 2 p.m. All performances will be held in the Anna Maria Ciccone Theatre.

Show ticket prices for the general public are $15, with discounts offered to senior citizens, Bergen faculty and students. For additional information, please call (201) 447-7428 or visit tickets.bergen.edu.
