As part of the application process, all health profession applicants must complete or waive the Basic Skills Test by the application deadline date to be considered. Review below how you can waive or take the exam.

Please note: ALL remedial coursework must be completed by the application deadline. 

Step #1 – Check for Waiver 

  • To see a list of conditions that can allow you to waive one or more parts of the Accuplacer Basic Skills Test click here.
  • If you think you may qualify for a waiver you will need to submit documentation.  Listed below are the ways that you can submit your waiver form.

FIRST TIME BCC APPLICANTS  

As a first time applicant to BCC you will receive a BCC ID number.  You WILL NOT receive a BCC username unless you are admitted into your applied program.

PREVIOUS OR CURRENT BCC STUDENTS

  • As a previous or current BCC student you should have access to your BCC student portal account.  Click on the Placement Test Waiver Request Form below to complete your testing waiver if you have not previously done so.

Step #2– Taking the Placement Exam

A-    In-Person Testing

  • In person testing is available, on a walk-in basis, between 9:30 A.M. and 1:00 P.M.
  • To take an in-person test/exam, please report to Office of Testing Services/One Stop Center, Room OS-102, Pitkin Education Center, at the College’s main campus in Paramus, NJ.
  • Bring a valid physical picture ID. Pictures of ID cards on electronic devices (e.g., cellphone, tablet, camera...) are not accepted as proof of identity.
  • There is no fee.

B-    Virtual/Remote Online Testing

  • Virtual/Remote online testing is available for a $25 fee and will be done by appointment. Effective July 1, 2023, the $25 fee will be required.
  • Please email [email protected] for further instructions.
  • Notes: Students are not permitted to use a cellphone to take the placement test.
  • Must have a photo ID

Step #3 – Meet with an Academic Advisor

  • Once you have completed your Basic Skills Testing you are able to meet with an academic advisor.  You can visit the One Stop Center on the Paramus Campus for a walk-in appointment with an advisor.  Visit bergen.edu/advising for more information.

Accommodated Placement Test or Exam

If you have a documented disability and believe you may be eligible for accommodations, you should contact the Office of Specialized Services (OSS) BEFORE taking the placement exam. OSS is located in Room L115, Pitkin Education Center, 400 Paramus Road, Paramus, NJ 07652.
