Inside Bergen has earned NCMPR Medallion Awards in back-to-back years.

PARAMUS, N.J. – When it comes to community college newsletters, Bergen Community College is the gold standard.

For the second consecutive year, Bergen has earned a District 1 Medallion Award from the National Council on Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) for its official newsletter, Inside Bergen, this time receiving first place honors in the category. NCMPR, an affiliate of the American Association of Community Colleges with more than 650 member colleges, recognizes excellence in community, technical and junior college marketing and public relations activities in the northeastern U.S., Canada and the U.K. through the Medallion Awards each year.

“Effective communication remains critical to student and institutional success,” Bergen President B. Kaye Walter, Ph.D., said. “An NCMPR Medallion Award not only recognizes the College’s strategic attention placed on communication, but lauds the exemplary messaging, writing and graphic design completed by Bergen staff.”

Produced tri-annually by the College’s Office of Public Relations, the Inside Bergen newsletter debuted in 2013. The publication details College news and includes recurring features such as a faculty profile, a campus calendar and a photo collage.

NCMPR officials announced the winning entries in 46 categories of public relations and marketing activities at the group’s annual conference in Newport, Rhode Island Nov. 6 through 8.

Based in Paramus, Bergen Community College (www.bergen.edu), a public two-year coeducational college, enrolls 16,000 students at locations in Paramus, the Philip J. Ciarco Jr. Learning Center in Hackensack and Bergen Community College at the Meadowlands in Lyndhurst. The College offers associate degree, certificate and continuing education programs in a variety of fields. More students graduate from Bergen than any other community college in the state.
