NEW YORK, N.Y. – Joining officials from 55 universities such as Cornell, Michigan State and Tufts, Bergen Community College President B. Kaye Walter, Ph.D., has signed the “Presidents’ Commitment to Food and Nutrition Security” pledge initiated by Auburn University – making Bergen the only two-year institution to do so. President Walter signed the agreement alongside her peers at a Dec. 9 event at the United Nations. The pledge creates a blueprint defining higher education’s role in combatting hunger.

PARAMUS, N.J. – Bergen Sinfonia will return to its home venue – the Bergen Community College Anna Maria Ciccone Theatre – for its annual holiday concert Friday, Dec. 19 at the College’s main campus, 400 Paramus Road.

PARAMUS, N.J. – Taking the oath of office at the Nov. 11 meeting of the Bergen Community College Board of Trustees, Interim Executive County Superintendent of Schools for Bergen County Norah Peck has joined the institution’s governing panel.

HACKENSACK, N.J. – Bringing with it more than 300 years of documents, publications and artifacts, the Bergen County Historical Society Library and Archives opened at its new home, the Bergen Community College Philip J. Ciarco Jr. Learning Center at 355 Main Street, Nov. 6.

PARAMUS, N.J. – In November and December, Bergen Community College will host free open houses for prospective students at two of its locations – Paramus (main campus) and Lyndhurst (Bergen Community College at the Meadowlands) – to explore the College’s offerings. More students graduate with associate degrees from Bergen than any other New Jersey college.

HACKENSACK, N.J. – With an agreement reached by Bergen Community College and the Bergen County Historical Society, the group’s library will reopen in a new home Thursday, Nov. 6 located within the College’s Philip J. Ciarco Jr. Learning Center at 355 Main Street.

PARAMUS, N.J. – Coinciding with Veterans Day, Combat Paper NJ and Bergen Community College’s Gallery Bergen will join forces to feature the art of military veterans in an upcoming exhibition. Combat Paper NJ representatives will sponsor a weeklong series of workshops – Monday, Nov. 10 to Friday, Nov. 14 at the College’s main campus – open to all local veterans seeking to participate and provide art for the exhibition. Workshops will feature Combat Paper NJ’s signature process of turning former military uniforms into paper, providing a canvas for artistic expression.

PARAMUS, N.J. – The 2014-15 Bergen Community College Anna Maria Ciccone Theatre “Curtain Up!” series continues with the Ridgewood chamber music ensemble Palisades Virtuosi Friday, Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m. The performance will take place at the College’s main campus, 400 Paramus Road, Paramus, N.J. Tickets are $35 for the general public, $20 for senior citizens and $10 for students.
