PARAMUS, N.J. – Heroes, both real and imagined, will descend upon Bergen Community College this month for a 5K to raise funds for the institution’s veterans and students. The Sunday, Oct. 23 “Hero 5K Run,” organized by the Bergen Community College Foundation, the nonprofit supporting the institution and the Department of Wellness and Exercise Science, will take place at the College’s main campus at 400 Paramus Road. All attendees are encouraged to dress as their favorite superheroes as they support the College’s heroes – its approximately 200 U.S. military veterans.

The 5K will begin at 8:30 a.m., while a one-mile “family fun run” will begin at 10 a.m. The inaugural event will also include children’s activities such as inflatable houses, games and recreation areas.

Registration is $25 per entrant for the 5K or $10 for per child for the family run.

To register, visit tiny.cc/bergenherorun or call the Foundation at (201) 447-7117 for more information. Attendees can check in the morning of the run or Saturday, Oct. 22 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Road Runner Sports in Paramus.

The Bergen Community College Foundation raises funds to support student scholarships, faculty and staff development, construction and other special projects and programs for continuing the tradition of excellence in education provided by the College.

Based in Paramus, Bergen Community College (www.bergen.edu), a public two-year coeducational college, enrolls 15,000 students at locations in Paramus, the Philip Ciarco Jr. Learning Center in Hackensack and Bergen Community College at the Meadowlands in Lyndhurst.
