How is your office notified of Code of Conduct violations and incidents?

The Office of Student Conduct receives incident reports from different sources, such as the Department of Public Safety, faculty or administrative offices, and/or other students. These reports are kept in a secure and private location within the Office of Student Conduct.

How do I file a complaint?

Complaints can be filled both online and in person at any of the three Bergen Community College locations. To file a complaint online visit the “Reporting Forms” tab. To file a complaint in person please visit either the Office of Student Conduct or the Office of Public Safety. . Please note that the accused student(s)/organization will have a right to review the statement and ask questions about any and all allegations.

What are my rights in the student conduct process?

Your rights are outlined in the Student Code of Conduct under the “Statement of the Rights of the Respondent” section.

If an incident is being handled in the courts, may the College also take action?

Yes, students sometimes find that their involvement in an incident is reviewed by two or more jurisdictions (e.g., the College student conduct system and the civil and criminal justice systems.)

“I was not aware of the rules, I did not know I was breaking the rules”.
