The Role of the Conduct Hearing Board
The Conduct Hearing Board’s function is to investigate the alleged violations against the Code of Conduct within the disciplinary hearing and determine whether the student charged is responsible or not responsible.
Board members play an active role in listening to all testimony and evidence presented, and they have an opportunity to question all witnesses to gain a better understanding of the issues related to the allegations.
If members of the Board determine, through deliberation, that the student(s) is(are) responsible for the allegation(s), they then recommend an appropriate sanction.
Board Selection for Hearings
Hearings usually last between one to two hours.
A minimum of three (3) persons (two faculty/professional staff, one student) or a maximum of five (5) persons (three faculty/professional staff, two students) serve on each Board.
You may be asked to be a member of multiple conduct board hearings several times per semester, but you can serve when it is convenient for you.
You will be notified by email about the convening of a hearing several days before the hearing.
Hearings are scheduled at various times, from 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. and on different days of the week depending on the class schedules of the student(s) charged and of the witness(s).
A confirmation is then sent back to you if you have been selected to serve on the Board for that particular incident.
Students who serve on College Conduct Review Boards must:
- Maintain a 2.8 cumulative G.P.A.,
- Be in good social standing with the College as determined by the Office of Student Life and Conduct, and
- Agree to keep all case information in strict confidence.
Application Process and Training
Student Members:

A student only needs to successfully attend one full training to become a student member. Students who have applied will be notified of the location of the training once they submit an application.
Please note that training for Community Standards Review Conduct Board will be scheduled on an as needed basis determined by the Office of Student Life & Conduct.
Faculty/Staff Members:
To become a faculty/staff member of the Community Standards Review Conduct Hearing Board please email [email protected] expressing interest.
If you were previously trained (before Spring 2016) you may need to attend a one hour refresher. If you are new to the Community Standards Review Conduct Hearing Board you will have to attend the same one hour training.
