Why do we have lactation rooms?
Bergen Community College is committed to providing a caring, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all members of the campus community and guests. Providing private spaces for mothers to express milk comfortably is an example of this commitment and is done in compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, and the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination.
We invite you to review this page for more information about the available designated lactation spaces across campus.

Room Use Expectations
Cleaning & Sanitizing
Nursing mothers are responsible for bringing their equipment and cleaning up after each use. This is not only out of respect for the next user but to prevent contamination and illness transmission. You should clean breast milk spills after each use and dispose of trash properly. Cleaning wipes and paper towels should be provided in each room. Please note that these products should never be used to sanitize your equipment.
Privacy
Please respect the privacy of all Lactation Room users by knocking before access to the rooms.
Breast Milk Storage
Refrigeration/storage is not provided in the rooms, so you will need to locate an alternative location for storage or provide your cooler with an ice pack for storage purposes.
