Important Testing Announcements

Please read the following regarding changes in accommodated and non- accommodated testing.

We have some exciting changes coming to our testing operations that are designed to provide students with a better experience at Bergen!

Placement testing will take place in the One Stop.

Non-Accommodated academic make-up tests will take place in the One Stop.

Accommodated testing will take place in Room S-121 in the Pitkin Education Center.

Placement testing will now take place in the One Stop on the Paramus Campus so incoming students can have a seamless onboarding experience in one location from application to registration!

Non-Accommodated Make Up Testing:

All non-accommodated make up tests will now take place in the One Stop.

Tests can be dropped off between the hours of 8:30 am- 6:00 pm (Monday-Thursday) and 8:30 am- 5:00 pm on Fridays.   An OTS staff member will contact the student to arrange a time to take the test.  Walk-ins within office hours are also welcome.

A lock box is being placed outside of the One Stop (on the wall facing the L hallways).  Each test must be accompanied by a completed cover sheet.

The test/exam cover sheet for non-accommodated exams is online at: https://bergen.edu/testing/forms   Any questions can be directed to [email protected]

Accommodated Testing:

The Office of Specialized Services is now responsible for administering all accommodated exams* for in-person classes offered on the Paramus campus.

For the Fall 2023 semester, instructors should drop off test(s) in Room S-121 located in the Pitkin Education Center, between the hours of 8:30 am- 6:00 pm (Monday-Thursday) and 8:30 am- 5:00 pm on Friday with a completed cover sheet.  A secure lock box has been installed outside of S-121 for those wishing to drop off tests (with completed cover sheets) during off – hours.

The test/exam cover sheet can be found at https://bergen.edu/oss/oss-forms/

Instructors should return to Room S-121 following the hours of operation above to retrieve completed tests.

Students have received an email from OSS and instructed to continue to email [email protected] to schedule exams or for any questions regarding the use of accommodations while testing.

During this transition, please feel free to contact OSS by emailing our office: [email protected] with any questions related to accommodated test administration.

As a reminder, accommodations for exams refer to any approved accommodations that are listed on the semester based Letter of Accommodation. This can include: extended time, private room, use of a scribe, use of a reader or use of assistive technology. Students who are eligible to use any of these accommodations must be registered with OSS. Students are instructed to  submit their Letter of Accommodation to faculty and then discuss how exams will be administered.  Students eligible for accommodations for test taking have been instructed to contact OSS in advance ( a minimum of 2 business days) to schedule an appointment. OSS will not provide same day appointments. Appointments can be made by emailing: [email protected]. A confirmation email will be sent to students once a test date has been arranged.
